H. Gunton is a family business established at 81 Crouch Street in 1936 by the late Herbert Gunton. Along with his son Geoffrey they built up a reputation for selling high quality and unusual foods with personal service and advice for their clientele.
Geoffrey, expanded in to 83 and was joined by his son, Keitrh, who carried on the business with his wife Valerie. they have now passed the business to the fourth generation Phil, aided by his wife Diane and sister Beverly.

Colchester Recalled is a voluntary group compiling an archive of
recorded memories about Colchester & District over the past 100 years.

They publish a magazine called 'Colchester Recalled' full of photos and
local people's memories which can be purchased for £2.50 at Gunton's in
Crouch Street or online HERE.

We are proud to be the first sponsors of this oral archive, preserving
the memories of many Colcestrians for future generations.
